So what is a Bramble? The bramble was invented in 1984 by Dick Bradsell at Fred’s Club in London’s SoHo. A bramble cocktail normally consist of the following ingredients: Gin, Simple Syrup, Lemon Juice, Creme de Mure, Crushed Ice and Blackberries; however today there are many variations like the one I enjoy below with some experimentation of course.
Feel free to make it your own:
- Use a infused whiskey such as cherry or blackberry.
- Try different types of Fresh berries: blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries.
- Add some bitters orange or cherry for example
Ingredients:
- 2oz Bourbon
- 1.25oz Orange (or Blood Orange) Juice
- .5oz Lemon Juice
- .25oz Simple Syrup
- 2 Dashes of Orange Bitters
- 3-5 Blackberries
Directions:
- Muddle Blackberries, Simple Syrup and Bitters
- Add Orange Juice, Lemon Juice and Bourbon
- Fill shaker with ice and shake
- Strain into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice.
- Garnish with orange or mint.
