The Bourbon Legends Boxcar Tour came to Philadelphia the weekend of September 13th, 2019 among many other places; however I didn’t find out until the event was occurring. Lucky for me my friend Kim was ahead of the curve and had gotten us tickets. It was a completely free event where we were able to try bourbon from four legendary distillers: Basil Hayden’s, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark and Knob Creek. Luckily we choose to go on Sunday, Sept. 15th, and it was not to crazy crowed compared to what I heard about the day before. When we walked through the door of the 23rd Street Amory, we were transported to the birthplace of bourbon and given an immersive walk though experience where they illustrated the bourbon making process. After a bourbon education we were able to enjoying samplings of bourbon from each crafter, two complimentary cocktails, and perfectly paired BBQ appetizers. In addition, we walked a away with some cool swag: the Maker’s Mark rocks glasses with the Philadelphia skyline etched on it and the bottom dipped in their signature red wax were truly. Hopefully this event will come back around because it was quite enjoyable.
