I would have never thought of Pabst as a whiskey producer but apparently, they have approval to release a Whiskey. I did a little poking around after hearing about this and found it on the TTB COLA Registry. Not much is known about it other than their brew partner, New Holland Brewing Co., and the what the label says. I chuckled when I read the tag line ‘AGED 5 SECONDS’….so their style. They have not made any comments, but to me they are synonymous with beer and I know their partner would not lead them astray.
Living in the City of Brotherly Love, it is common to visit a local bar and order a “citywide” and it be accompanied with a PBR. For those of you not in the know, a “citywide” is a shot and a beer….more often than not at a cheap price and it is a thing of Philadelphia Legend. (Yes, there are more upscale versions of a citywide!) Now they can complete the circle. A can of Pabst with a shot of Pabst Whiskey. That is going to be a popular combo.
When and if it finally makes it to market, I will most definitely grab a bottle and have a Pabst on Pabst!
