Pub and Kitchen, Philadelphia

Just like my local Fishtown watering hole, Lloyd, Pub and Kitchen has become is my Rittenhouse Square spot.

My friends and I fondly refer to Pub and Kitchen as Pig Rabbit (or occasionally as Pig Bunny) because their logo is a pig with bunny ears. We heard from a reliable source the reason for their logo: it’s the owner’s own inside joke. Apparently he wants you to come in and “Eat like a pig” and then go home and “F*ck like a rabbit”. I don’t know the owner personally but I can totally get behind that story.. As I can only speak to the pig part, I will leave the bunny part to you after a fine meal accompanied by some awesome beverages.

This is definitely a “call ahead” or make reservations place . The staff are super friendly and helpful but the place does get packed at certain times of the week: locals love it and Penn students often come tromping across the South Street bridge from campus. Reservations can be made on Open Table and I do strongly suggest it, especially if you’re a party of 3 or more, or coming with anyone under age of 21.

Let’s start with the food. I am a little obsessed with the Wedge Salad. No, I mean really kind of obsessed. If I am in for a quick bite the Burger or Italian Pulled Pork sandwich are my go-to items. The main meals are nothing to scoff at either. I have been through the whole list and have not been disappointed.

If you’re looking for a great little entertainment venue they’ve got you covered upstairs. It’s a perfect place for a small to medium size party, or maybe a whiskey tasting….?

And then there’s the liquor. They have an excellent selection of whiskey. I estimate that they have a selection of more than 75 unique bottles, quite a number of which are their own barrel picks. I have partaken of many of them and can attest to their deliciousness.

The cocktail menu is randomly changing and always delicious. There is always their solid P&K Old Fashion, and P&K Proprietary Manhattan. Their Espresso Martini, Le Michelle, Harvey or their ever rotating list is also a win. The point is you will not be disappointed.

So if you’re ever in Philadelphia, in Fitler Square , I recommend you stop in, grab a snack, and check out their selections.

Cheers!
