Shane Confectionery Cacao Whiskey is distilled at New Liberty Distillery in partnership with Shane Confectionery. Shane Confectionery opened in 1863 and is one of the longest operating confectionery businesses and located on 110 Market Street in Philadelphia, PA. New Liberty, which coincidently is in Philadelphia as well, created this pot-distilled malted barley whiskey with cacao nibs, resulting in a truly unique and decadent spirit. Holding up the bottle light you can see particles of cacao nibs floating in the bottle, which is a pretty cool thing to see.
Shane Confectionery Cacao Whiskey is best-drunk neat; on the rocks dilutes the chocolate flavor too much. I am not sure about you, but diluted tastes horrible. I am an avid whiskey drinker and I will add a cube of ice when I am drinking whiskey sometimes but this is an instance to “Just say no”! On the bright side this pairs magnificently with a cigar for a walk though Philadelphia.
Sadly it is a limited-release whiskey, so I hoarded a few- sorry folks!
